Mustang won the second set and fought back late in the fourth, but Norman held off the Broncos for a 3–1 volleyball win Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at the Mustang High School Event Center.

The Tigers took the match 28–26, 20–25, 25–10 and 25–20. Mustang cut a nine-point fourth-set deficit to two before Norman scored the final three points to close out the Broncos' regular-season finale.

Opening chances slip away

Mustang pushed Norman into extra points in the first set. Paislee Wilson's attack tied it at 19, and Anna Waitman's touch over the blockers later brought the Broncos level at 23.

Mustang had three opportunities to finish the set, leading 24–23, 25–24 and 26–25. Kobie Yandell contributed attacking points during the extended finish, but the Tigers answered each chance and won the final three points for a 28–26 victory.

The Broncos responded in the second set. They recovered from an early deficit to lead 12–8, then regained control after Norman tied it at 14 and later moved ahead 17–16.

Mustang built a 21–18 advantage, but the Tigers closed within one and forced a Broncos timeout. Mustang returned to win four consecutive points and even the match.

Brooke Base served the closing stretch. A Zoe Schlegel touch sent Norman scrambling, and Base's service ace brought up set point. Mustang finished the set 25–20.

Tigers withstand a late comeback

Norman's front-row attack and blocking took control in the third set. The Tigers opened a 20–10 lead, then won the final five points to move ahead two sets to one.

Mustang faced another large deficit in the fourth. Norman led 18–9 and later 20–11, but the Broncos kept working back into the set.

Wilson supplied two attacking points during the rally, and Base contributed at the net. Mustang cut the margin to 21–17, prompting a Norman timeout.

The Broncos closed further after a ruling against Norman and a Waitman block, pulling within 22–20. The Tigers then won the next three points to end Mustang's bid for a deciding fifth set.

Base was named player of the game for her kills and blocks.
